Chinese Business Name & Brand Naming Service

Chinese naming for companies, products, stores and founders that need a name built for the market — not a literal machine translation.

Why Chinese Naming Lab?

Rooted in a family tradition of Chinese language, literature and learning. Human judgement, clear reasoning and names designed for real use — not random output.

Why our approach is different →

The Chinese name has a commercial job to do.

A business name must fit more than language. It has to work with category expectations, brand position, pronunciation, memorability, customer impression and the way it will appear in Chinese-speaking markets.

Phonetic directionPreserve part of the original brand sound when that helps recognition.
Meaning-led directionBuild a Chinese name around the brand idea rather than copying foreign sounds.
Hybrid directionBalance recognizable sound with useful Chinese meaning and a natural brand feel.
Risk screeningCheck pronunciation, unwanted associations, category mismatch and awkward wording before launch.

What gets evaluated

A strong Chinese brand name has to survive several tests.

Pronunciation

Easy enough to say, remember and repeat in the relevant Chinese-speaking context.

Meaning

Characters should support the intended brand impression instead of creating accidental baggage.

Category fit

A name that works for fashion can feel wrong for industrial equipment, finance or healthcare.

Brand distance

Decide how closely the Chinese name should track the original foreign brand in sound and identity.

What to send us

  • Original company, product or brand name
  • Industry and what the business actually sells or does
  • Target market and customer profile
  • Brand positioning: premium, technical, youthful, traditional, minimalist, playful, etc.
  • Whether recognition of the foreign name is important
  • Ideas, values or associations the Chinese name should carry
  • Existing candidates and what you like or dislike about them
  • Where the name will appear: packaging, website, app, store, company registration, campaign, creator brand, etc.
Important: linguistic and cultural naming work is not trademark, company-registration or legal clearance. Commercial availability must be checked separately before launch.

FAQ

Chinese business naming questions

Is a Chinese business name just a translation of the English brand?

No. Some brands use phonetic localization, some use meaning-led naming and many use a hybrid approach. The right strategy depends on the original brand, category, audience and what must be preserved.

Can you check an existing Chinese brand name?

Yes. If you already have candidates, the Name Review route can screen wording, pronunciation, memorability, category fit and unwanted associations before broader commercial or legal clearance.

Does the service include trademark registration?

No. Naming and linguistic screening do not guarantee trademark availability, company-name registration, domain availability or legal clearance. Those checks should be handled separately in the relevant market.

What information should I send?

Send the original brand or company name, what you sell, target audience, brand position, market, any candidate names, meanings or sounds to preserve, and anything the name must avoid.
